Hosting of FIFA World CUP

Several months have passed since the last men’s FIFA World Cup, and the next one is just around the corner. The 2022 tournament in Qatar will be the first time the event has ever been staged in the Middle East and the first time it has ever been held in the months of November and December. Lusall, Al Khor, Al Rayyan, Al Wakrah, and Doha, Qatar are the sites of eight of the event’s eight stadiums.

How many teams will be participating in the FIFA World cup?

Only 32 teams will compete for the title at the 2022 men’s World Cup in Qatar, but that number will increase to 48 for the 2026 tournament. Since France in 1998, the FIFA men’s World Cup has always had 32 teams.

Qatar, the tournament host, will join by the other 32 teams that qualified from regional tournaments. The number of qualifying nations from each area was set in advance.

The CAF has five members from Africa.

A total of four (4) Asian (AFC) (plus 1 playoff qualifier)

European Championship (UEFA): 13

Three from CONCACAF (North America, Central America, and the Caribbean) (plus 1 playoff qualifier)

There is one Oceania (OFC) playoff spot up for grabs.

A total of 4 countries in South America (CONMEBOL) (plus 1 playoff qualifier)

FIFA World Cup Group Stage Draws:

Qatar, Ecuador, Senegal, and the Netherlands make up Group A.

Group B consists of the following countries: England, Iran, the United States, and Wales.

Argentina, Saudi Arabia, Mexico, and Poland make up Group C.

France, Australia, Denmark, and Tunisia make up Group D.

Group E consists of the following countries: Spain, Costa Rica, Germany, and Japan.

Belgium, Canada, Morocco, and Croatia make up Group F.

There are four teams in Group G: Brazil, Serbia, Switzerland, and Cameroon.

To round out Group H, we have Portugal, Ghana, Uruguay, and South Korea.

FIFA world cup 2022 tournament Schedule:

The 32 teams that qualify for the group stage of the 2022 World Cup will cut to 16 for the knockout round, just as in previous tournaments.

The 16 teams who make it out of the group stage will then compete in a single-game elimination round. The victor stays on, and the vanquished are sent packing as every game in the knockout stage must have a winner on the day it is played, thus if it is tied after regulation time or after penalty kicks, the latter will be used.

Group stage: November 21st–December 2nd

Second round: Dec. 3-6

Time and date of quarterfinals: December 9-10.

The semi-finals will be held on the 13th and 14th of December.

The third-place game is on December 17th

Final: 18th December
