It all began at the New Bethel Baptist Church in Detroit, Michigan where Aretha Franklin’s father Late C. L. Franklin was minister. Aretha Franklin embarked on a secular career in 1960 at the age of 18, recording for Columbia Records back then but achieving only modest success. Aretha Franklin achieved commercial success and acclaim after signing with the Atlantic Records in 1966, with songs such as “Respect”, “Chain of Fools”, “Think”, “(You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman”, “I Never Loved a Man (The Way I Love You)”, and “I Say a Little Prayer”. Her Success to stardom blew upwards after singing these songs back then.

Aretha Franklin was also named the ‘Queen of Soul”. She was inducted to the UK Music Hall of Fame back in 2005 and to the Gospel Music Hall of Fame in 2012. It was on August 13, 2018, that Aretha Franklin was reported to be seriously ill at her home located in Riverfront Towers, Detroit. Aretha Franklin was under a hospice care and was also surrounded by friends and family. World music stars such as Stevie Wonder, Jesse Jackson and her ex-husband Glynn Turman visited her on her deathbed. Franklin later died at her home on August 16, 2018, at age 76. After some prior medical diagnosis, cause was reported by the media to be pancreatic neuroendocrine tumor.
