Why Lagos city is the best to reside in

Published

on

Lagos is a city full of life

Last week, our dear Lagos city got a bad rep internationally. Lagos was rated as one of the worst livable cities in the world. Coming behind Damascus, Lagos ranked 145 out of 146 livable cities in the world.
According to the Economist Intelligence Unit’s 2017 Global Liveability Report,
Melbourne tops a list of the World’s Most Liveable City for the seventh
year running. Cities such as Vienna, Vancouver, Toronto and Calgary
completed the top five most liveable cities in 2017.

This
sounds like a bit of exaggeration. Yes, Lagos is no Paris but it is no
war-torn city either. Lagos has its perks and peculiar beauty that only
Lagosians are used to.
Yes, we have all had our bad days in Lagos, but we love this city. On its good day, Lagos is the best city in the world.
Here are five reasons why Lagos is second to none;

1) Owambe parties

"Money fall on you", in Nigeria spraying of money at parties is no big deal.

No city in the world
knows how to throw Owambe parties better than Lagos. The enjoyment, the
fun, the music, the food are all unique. You can’t get this atmosphere
in any other city in the world. Lagos is the capital city of Owambe
parties. Every weekend, Lagos comes alive with these culturally
colourful parties blessed with live melodious music. If you think you
can get this anywhere else in the world, you are joking.

2) Night Life

Banky W once sang “ain’t no party like a Lagos party.
The nightlife in Lagos is magic, that’s the best way to describe it.
The night clubs in Lagos go hard. While most night clubs in other parts
of the world shut down at night, the clubs here rock till 4 am or even 5
am. We don’t take shots here, we buy bottles and we buy out the bar.
Sparklers, buckets, and fridges of expensive drinks are uniquely part of
the city’s nightlife. If you do want to go to clubs there are thousands
of night spots where you can hang out and drink depending on your
budget. The nightlife in Lagos does not discriminate. It accommodates
everyone from rich to poor.

3) The People

Nothing makes a city
great more than its people. There are approximately 20 million people in
this city. The people in Lagos are the best. They are optimistic,
funny, and generally warm people. No matter what life throws at them,
they smile and bounce back. Lagosians are resilient but they have not
let the grittiness of the city rob them of their smile.

4) The home of Nollywood

Nollywood is one of
the biggest movie industries in the world and Lagos is its capital.
Lagos is home to the biggest actors in Africa, from Genevieve Nnaji to Ramsey Nouah.
Lagos built Nollywood from nothing and today it is entertaining
millions of people around the world. No other city is more Nollywood
than Lagos.

5) Mega churches

There are at least
two churches in most streets in Lagos. Nigeria is a very religious
country and you can see that clearly in Lagos. You can’t miss them. On
some streets, you can have four churches. Not only is Lagos crammed with
small churches, it has more than its fair share of mega-churches. Every
December, Lagos plays host to one of the biggest gospel concerts- The
Experience. If you are a Christian, you would love Lagos.

L. A Prisoners Infect Themselves With Coronavirus To Get Early Release (VIDEO)

A group of silly L.A area prison inmates were very eager to contract the dreaded coronavirus .

They attempted this because they believed that would trigger their ticket out of prison.

According to the L.A. County Sheriff Alex Villanueva who made the startling revelation Monday, said about twenty-four (24) inmates at the Pitchess Detention Center in Castaic attempted (and somewhat succeeded, apparently) to infect themselves way back in mid-April 2020.

The Sheriff revealed that their department saw an increase in spike in confirmed cases out of nowhere.

He said that when they investigated, they found a high number of inmates living in one block of the prison appeared to be deliberately trying to infect each other with COVID-19 any way they could from behind bars.

When Alex Villanueva played the surveillance footages he and his team combed through carefully , and it showed several inmates hanging out in a common area and passing around what Alex described as a hot cup of water, as well as one face mask they’d each put on all in hopes of getting sympathy from a judge to spring them from the facility and let them go home.

But it turns out, their little ploy worked but, only halfway.

Villanueva reported that 21 of the inmates (out of 50 in the block) caught the ‘Coronavirus.

“What they won’t catch is a break” said the Sheriff.

The Buhari administration has been known for enforcing the Nigerian people to patronize Nigerian made goods though without much strategy to make life easier while this transition to economic growth is enforced. Many Nigerians have tagged it a harsh move that is insensitive and inhumane but moreso, Reno Omokri has singled out signals of hypocrisy in the President of Nigeria by outlining certain traits of family moves of the President that shows that he(Buhari) as the No.1 citizen has no regards for anything made in Nigeria but yet wants other Nigerians to embrace Nigerian made goods.

Reno Omokri ‘s tweet reads:

His kids schooled in England. His wife just returned from a 3 month UK stay. His daughter gave birth to his grandchild in Spain (made in Spain), yet
@MBuhari
, who is London, wants us to patronise made in Nigeria!
